Rosemary’s First Recital

Last night was Rosemary’s first ballet recital. We looked forward to it all week and had 2 rehearsals before the big night so it was a pretty busy week.

Rosemary was a Growling Bear.

We couldn’t take pictures during the recital so I took a bunch during the dress rehearsal.

Janice and Richard met at our house and Richard watched Ben during the show. Rosemary wanted a pic with Ben before we left for the church.

Afterwards, we picked up Rosemary and all gave her flowers. She really did like them, despite how it looks. :-)

We managed to snap a quick shot with the grandparents before everyone needed to leave.

  And Jonathan and I got one too…with our very exhausted little ballerina.

Memorial Day in Melbourne

We spent Memorial Day weekend in Melbourne for a beach weekend and to visit with Zach. Rosemary and Ben were very excited to see their uncle.

We stayed over at the beach and met up with Zach throughout the weekend. He was a great host and took us to some great local places to eat. When we first got there, we hit Five Guys (not local, but so good) for some burgers then headed to the beach for a bit. That night for dinner we went to a little hole in the wall place that served Hawaiian burritos. Sounds strange but they were so good.

Rosemary really enjoyed the fun bottled sodas.

The next morning we got up, had breakfast at the hotel then headed down to the beach for a long beach day.

Jonathan and Rosemary got to work digging holes and building sand castles.

I bought Rosemary a kite at the dollar store and was shocked when Rosemary got it to fly on her first try. It was amazing.

That night we went to Bizzarro’s for pizza then the kids and I headed back the hotel while Jonathan and Zach saw a movie.

The next morning we spent a little more time on the beach then got packed up and ready to go. We met Zach at Mustard’s Last Stand, a hotdog restaurant that served all kinds of hotdogs. I was pretty boring and just got melted cheese, but Jonathan got one with jalapenos and Zach had one that was wrapped in bacon and a tortilla then deep fried and topped with chili and cheese. After that Zach took us to Cold Fusion for ice cream where we picked out our flavors and they made the ice cream right in front of us with liquid nitrogen. The kids loved it.

On our way home, we stopped in Groveland to visit a bit with Elizabeth, Ezekiel, and Ian. After dinner, we loaded up and headed home after a great weekend with family.

She was so blessed to have such a great group of friends this year. We’ve already made plans to meet up with some of her friends throughout the summer.

Mother’s Day 2010

Once again, Jonathan and the kids put together a great Mother’s Day.

We headed to church and got our family photos done. Thank you, Lorie!

I know she’s not looking at the camera, but I love that look on Rosemary’s face.

After church, we packed up a picnic then headed to the park.

Mother’s Day Weekend - Longwood

The kids and I headed down to Longwood to spend a couple days with my mom and dad this past weekend. I had one day left on my Disney pass and wanted to use it before it expired so my mom and I took the kids to Hollywood Studios one of the days.

First thing we did when we got there was to go and get fastpasses for Toy Story Mania since none of us had ever ridden it. It was only 10 am, but our fastpasses weren’t good until 1:45 pm so we headed to the Voyage of the Little Mermaid.

We timed things pretty well and before lunch we were able to do the Great Movie Ride and Playhouse Disney too. We ate the lunch that we packed that morning then headed over to Beauty and the Beast. On the way, we’d stopped at the restroom and made it out of there in record time too, about 5 minutes, including a diaper change! Beauty and the Beast was great and probably the highlight of the day for me.

Finally, it was getting to where we could make our way over to Toy Story and on the way we stopped to see Woody and Buzz.

Toy Story Mania was pretty fun. I rode with Rosemary and Ben rode with my mom. We would have gone on it again…except for the fact that the line was 80 minutes long!!! and we wanted to get seats for the parade.

On our way up to the parade, we stopped for a couple pictures with Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater.

We found spots on the curb for the parade and the kids ate some ice cream while we waited.

Ben’s was a pineapple fruit bar…I figured that would be less messy than the Mickey Mouse.

The parade was fun and a bit different. Rather than continuously going, the floats stop three different times along the route. We were sitting at the first stop. All the characters get off and dance around and do their show. When it’s done, they move onto the next stop. The green army men are the emcees.

After the parade, we headed back home. After dinner at Fazoli’s, we enjoyed some time in the spa before heading to bed.

The next morning, my mom and I hit a few garage sales. It was a good morning for both of us, but I got the deal of the day…a Peg Perego double stroller for $20. (So now we have 5 strollers…but they’re all different…and thankfully Jonathan didn’t hurt me when I showed him our new (to us) one). The kids stayed with my dad while we shopped…and Rosemary even got to go in the spa again with grandpa while Ben napped.

We ate lunch at Five Guys then the kids and I packed up to head home.

They were tuckered out and slept most of the drive back.    

Preschool Mother’s Day Party

Today was Rosemary’s Mother’s Day party at school. All moms and grandmas were invited so both my mom and Jonathan’s mom drove up to Gainesville to be a part of the day.

It started out with a program up in the music room. The last school program at Christmas didn’t go so well. Rosemary just stood there and smiled. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect today.

Well, she didn’t sing the first song, but she sure sang…and danced…for the rest. It was great! I was really proud of her. And at the end she gave the cutest little curtsy.

I had planned to take my mom and Janice out to lunch to the Ivy House, but it ended up that Rosemary’s class provided lunch for all the moms and grandmas (and the younger ones like Ben too!). We sat down and Rosemary brought us each a plate of food and a glass of punch. She was quite eager to serve. After we all got our plates, she went and got one of her own.

Rosemary was so proud that her grandmas were there at her school.

One of the things that the class did for the moms was a little ‘fill-in-the-blanks’ about each of the moms. Here is Rosemary’s. Her answers are in bold.

My Mom’s name is Ms. Julie. She is 20 years old and has black eyes and brown hair. Her favorite food is soup. I love my mom because I give her hugs. Because I kiss her too. I like to climb the tree with mom and play inside with my toys. I like to give her flowers.

Since we ate lunch at the school, we decided to go and get dessert at Cracker Barrel. While we were there, we gave each grandma their Mother’s Day gift. I didn’t take a photo of the finished product, but the photos we used are below. The only difference is that they were in a 3-photo matted frame. That last picture was a toughie!
