Preschool Graduation

Last week, Rosemary attended her last day of preschool. The Monday of that week, the school hosted a preschool graduation for all of the Pre-K classes. Both grandmas were able to drive up that day to be a part of the ceremony and luncheon and to celebrate with us.

I dropped Rosemary off then came home, got ready, then drove over with Ben, Charlotte, Janice, and my mom. Jonathan met us there. Having Ben and Charlotte there made things interesting, but the program was short and Rosemary was happy to have the whole family there.

Everyone in the class received a diploma (Rosemary’s is now proudly displayed on her door) and got a picture with Mrs. Davies and Mrs. Gamewell.

Once downstairs, all of the Pre-K classes combined to sing God Bless America. I hadn’t realized they were learning this song until a few days before the graduation Rosemary asked me about “oceans white with foam.”

It was a great day to celebrate with Rosemary. I really do think she enjoyed going to preschool and learned so much while there. And it was great for her while I was working at the church.

While we didn’t get teary, it was a bit of a bittersweet day. We’re so excited about the next step for Rosemary, but it’s hard to believe we’re already there!

So many babies

Seems like we’re still in the season of babies around here so that means I’ve been making baby gifts. Finding time to sew is much more difficult now that Rosemary has completely given up napping, but I did manage to get a few things done.

Three different friends of ours recently had little boys. I think girls are generally more fun to sew for, but I really do enjoy the little tie onesies…especially when they’re Gator-y.

And finally, a couple of nursing covers. I think these are my favorite new mom gifts to make.

Downpour

A few Saturdays ago, Rosemary and I went to a birthday party. While there, the heavens opened and the deluge began. It was still raining when the party was over but no longer thundering and lightning so Jonathan and the kids played out in the puddles a bit.

Splash Park

Emily and I took the kids up to play at the splash park a few weeks ago. It was our first trip there of the summer and hardly anyone was there so it was a great time to go.

Charlotte enjoyed the shade in the stroller the whole time.

Charlotte at Four Months

Today, Charlotte turned four months old.

We go tomorrow for her check up so I don’t know her measurements yet. My prediction is low percentiles height and weight and high percentile head circumference…just like the other two.

Some highlights from the month:

• Started rolling over both ways…I missed the first time, but my mom and dad got to see it!
• Cooing and ‘chatting’ with us
• Sleeping about 12 hours at night, taking an hour or so morning nap and a 2-3 hour afternoon nap.
• Started sucking her left thumb…but we’re working on the pacifier
• And is taking a bottle again!

And Charlotte got her first baby tub bath too. I know, she’s four months old, but she’s been getting sponge baths just not in the bath tub. She really liked the tub though…and big brother and big sister really liked helping.

Mother’s Day Program

Friday was the Mother’s Day program at Rosemary’s preschool. I was able to go and Charlotte and Ben came along too. We sat in the back so some of the photos are grainy.

It was a cute little program. Then the kids brought us their gifts. Rosemary made me a vase, candleholder, flowers, and a filled out a little sheet about me.

My mother is 31 years old.

My mother’s favorite food is salad.

My mother likes to feed the baby.

And while we didn’t get any photos on Mother’s Day, the kids and Jonathan put together another great day. I was able to relax and thoroughly enjoyed the day with the family.

A few weeks ago, I was back in Longwood for a quick trip for Becky’s baby shower. On the way home, the kids and I met up with Janey.

Easter 2011

We kicked off this year’s Easter season once again with the Estes Egg Hunt. The kids love it. That weekend was crazy for us so we called in some help. My mom and dad came to help with the kids so that we could take care of all of the things that needed to happen that weekend.

Ben and Landon hitched a ride with Faye. That may have been the highlight of the day for Ben.

In our haste to make it out to the Estes, I completely forgot baskets for the kids, thankfully there were some bags in the van.

Rosemary really had a good time, despite how this picture looks. And she picked out her dress. I wasn’t there when she got ready. She calls it her “Easter dress.”

We also dyed eggs this year. It was the first time Ben ever got in on the action. It wasn’t an ideal egg dyeing experience though. I bought the ‘tie dye’ kind which was a little more complicated and messy than what we probably should have done, but the eggs were nice and vibrant…as were our fingers for awhile afterwards.

Finally, Easter Sunday arrived. We headed to church for an extended breakfast and for worship.

Once the kids were done with breakfast, they played outside a bit. Such a handsome boy in his first tie. When Ben saw it, he kept saying “Daddy!”

Rosemary found this roly-poly and named it Pinky-Winky. It came home with us and we put it in a jar with holes in the lid and added some grass and leaves. Rosemary was so excited about her “first pet,” as she called it. Unfortunately, it only lived until Thursday.
