Where We've Been

During the month of February, we have spent almost as many days away as we have at home.

First, Jonathan and I headed to Virginia. Jonathan had a conference in Williamsburg and I went along. Rosemary stayed with Grandma and Grandpa W. while we were away.

We ate lunch the first day at a local college restaurant called Retros, near the College of William and Mary, with Jonathan's coworker Dee (on the left), her husband Leo, Toby (another coworker) and his wife Christy. Christy and I used to share a very small office when we worked for Housing.

When we got back to Florida, we headed down to Longwood for a few days to visit with my brother and his family. On Saturday, they went canoeing at Wekiva Springs. Jonathan shared a canoe with Schuyler and Charles. Jason and Nikki paddled along with Emma.


After canoeing, Charles, Schuyler, and Emma went swimming in the springs. It was nice that day, but I think the water still was pretty cold.
That night, we saw just how many people the hot tub could hold.

And we celebrated everyone's birthday.

This weekend we traveled to Tallahassee for the Tri-state Christian Convention. We had some free time on Friday morning so we drove around the FSU campus, found Jonathan's parent's first home, and toured the state capital. We went all the way to the top of the building. The weather was foggy and wet, so we couldn't see very far, but it was still pretty fun to do.

A glimpse of the baby

Today we had our 20 week ultrasound to check on the baby. The doctor said that everything that they could check looked great and based on the measurements the due date is still June 23. (Thank you, Jen, for watching Rosemary!)

We have a DVD as well and the tech stayed away from the baby's bottom so that we couldn't study the video to try to guess the gender. So everyone will have to wait until the baby's here to find out!

Rosemary's Birthday

Rosemary celebrated her 2nd birthday on Thursday. Jonathan and I both took the day off of work to spend the day with our girl. It was so nice to have a day all together without work or school worries!

We started the day off with a trip to JCPenney for pictures. Unfortunately, that didn't go as well as anticipated and after getting one fairly decent picture, we headed to Chick-fil-a for lunch.

After Rosemary's nap, we went to a local park and trail for a walk. She climbed on the playground and walked most of the trail herself.



While on the walk, we would point out to Rosemary things that God had made and if we asked her who made the tree, she would answer, "God."

On the way back, after us talking about how God made everything, Rosemary asked Jonathan, "Where's God?" What an innocent question.

That evening, after dinner at Conestoga's and a bath, Rosemary had a few presents to open. I think her favorite is the princess nightgown that she's wearing in the picture below...she's worn it the past three nights to bed...including the slippers.

Rosemary's Party

Last Sunday (1/27) we had Rosemary's 2nd Birthday Party. 25 of our friends and family came to spend the afternoon. I realized afterwards that everyone except Zach had to travel between 30 minutes to 2 hours to come. We truly appreciate everyone who made the trip! I know that Rosemary had a great time.

It was a butterfly party so we had all sorts of butterfly-type food, including two butterfly cakes which nearly did me in the night before the party. Thankfully, in the morning they looked better than I thought they did the night before.

Lots of kids were able to make it to the party which was really fun. They were everywhere!

I'm not very good about keeping up with the camera when we host a party, so I don't have very many pictures from the party. Below are a few to enjoy.

My mom found this little butterfly outfit and it was perfect for Rosemary's party. We opened gifts in the garage again this year. Our house doesn't quite have a room that accommodates 25 people so we were very happy that the weather was nice!

Rosemary had a little photo shoot a couple weeks ago to get some pictures to use for her birthday invitation. We got a couple cute ones. Below are two that didn't make it onto the invite, but ones that I still thought were good.

Fall in Gainesville?

Well, it isn't fall, but it's about as close as we get and it generally happens after Christmas. All of the leaves from one of the trees in our front yard fell in January and Jonathan spent one Saturday raking them up. Rosemary helped.

We have a few years before she gets her license, but she's already getting her practice in behind the wheel.

Christmas 2007

Because the university added an extra day of vacation for staff this year, we were able to have bit longer with family than we have in the past over Christmas break.

We started our time in Central Florida with a visit at the Stiller's. The kids played and exchanged presents while Bennett, Sara, Jonathan, and I chatted and played games.

Rosemary and Caitlyn enjoyed the musical instruments.

Next, we headed to Groveland to spend a few days with Jonathan's family. We celebrated Christmas Eve morning. The brothers all wore the same color shirts by chance.

Rosemary very much enjoyed the boxes...I don't think this one was even from one of her gifts.

On Christmas Eve, Jonathan's family and my family all went to Christmas Eve service together. I was so proud of Rosemary for staying in the sanctuary during the entire service (thanks to some goldfish and a lollipop).

On our way home, we met up with our friends Steve, Becky, and their daughter, Abby, for a character breakfast at the Grand Floridian. The girls did great and the food was so good. Rosemary liked seeing Tigger, but didn't want to be up there without her dad.

Afterwards, we took the girls outside to get some pictures. Not the easiest thing to do with a 15 month old and a 23 month old.

Christmas Decorating

We finally got to decorate for Christmas this weekend. We had been waiting because we were getting new living room furniture and it hadn't been delivered yet. It came last Monday so we were able to get the tree up on Saturday. We got most of it done while Rosemary napped.

The first year we were married, we went searching for the "our" tree topper, one that we would have for years to come and just love. We didn't find it. So here we are, four years later using a tree topper that's okay, just not our favorite. My parents have this great lighted topper that they got when they first got married and nothing that I have found has been able to compare.

Every year, we hang two ornaments first and take a picture of us hanging them up. The ornament that I hang up is from Disney's Yacht Club, which we got on our honeymoon.
Jonathan hangs up the glass bride and groom that my parents gave him as a Christmas gift the Christmas before we got married. We have pictures of each of us hanging up these two ornaments every year.
When Rosemary woke up, we were finishing up hanging up the ornaments. She watched what we were doing then went over to the coffee table where I had laid a few paper ornaments down, picked them up and started hanging them on the bottom branches. Very smart.

So far, she's been great around the tree. She occasionally plays with the ones that she hung on the tree, but often puts them back.

Dynah's Birthday

Dynah is Rosemary's best friend. We go to church with Dynah and her family so many times while we're there, Rosemary will ask, "Where Dynee?" When she sees her, she gets very excited so her birthday party was a very big deal.

They had a pinata. I think Rosmary might have tapped the pinata with the stick but, strong though she may be, she did not crack it open.

It's hard to tell, but Rosemary has colored spots all around her mouth from the cupcake sprinkles. If you click on the picture you might be able to see it better. It was very funny.

Thanksgiving 2007

This year for Thanksgiving we celebrated with Jonathan's family. Richard and Janice came up on Wednesday and spent the night. Tim's family and Zach joined us on Thursday.

Rosemary sat at the big girl's table with her cousins Olivia and Breanna.

It was also Sarah's first birthday so it was exciting to be able to be a part of that celebration too.

Afterwards, Sarah opened her gifts in the living room and we all relaxed and ate desserts.

Fun Memories

We've not posted in awhile so I'm going to try to catch up tonight. Below are some random pictures from the middle of November--just things that capture everyday life at home.

Wearing mom's headband and shoes...she went and put each of these items on herself. I think she looks quite cute in the headband. The shoes are a bit too big. Her little toes slide right out the end.

Watching her favorite show, Lawrence Welk, on a Saturday night before heading to bed. I'm not kidding. She loves to watch and dance. We have a video of her "tap dancing" that's hilarious.
